Following on from our work with Chelsea Prep school in South Africa and our design of a dry river bed in our year 2 garden ,we were delighted to welcome visitors from Shirley Lions and Notcutts garden centre last week when they came to judge our gardens for the Shirley Lions School Gardening competition. The children were so knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the work they have been doing. They spoke about the recent drought in South Africa and the reasons behind their design.

Mrs O'Keefe even missed the football on Saturday to go to hear the results! We were thrilled  to win the Infant category for the dry river bed garden and Highly Commended for the Year 4 plastic recycling garden. One of the teachers from a neighbouring school commented that as soon as she had seen a garden promoting saving water, she knew it was us! Our message is getting through!
