Waiting for the spring rains!!
Posted by Phumelelani Primary, South Africa on 2 October 2018

Our school relies on borehole water as the only source of water. This Winter the water under the ground has completely dried up so we are encouraging our children to bring 2 litres of fresh water to drink and 2 litre of grey water from home to keep our garden growing. Even though our garden is mostly indigenous we still need to water regularly. In September we held a competition between the classes as to who could bring the most grey water. In one day over 200 2 liter bottles were collected with Mrs Sebe class winning the competition. Although it is a necessity to bring water, making things a competition puts a fun element back into a drab task. We look forward to banking more water this Spring and hope that the rains come soon.
