Jean-Paul Augereau is 49 years old. He is the creater of “the safe water cube”.
He created his first company in 1995 and traveled a lot around the world. In Egypt, after an operation on his mouth, he drank contaminated water which made him very ill. He only survived thanks to an artery transplantation. Then, after seeking how many people suffer from the lack of clean water in the world (2.000.000.000 people do not have drinking water and 2.000.000 children die every year because of contaminated water in Africa), he decided to act.
So he created “the safe water cube”. The safe water cube is a minature filtering station, where we can put muddy, dirty and swampy water in a big barrel, and a thin grid stops leaves, wood and other big impureties. It then decantes smaller particules that are left at the bottom of the cube and get washed out of the cube. Then there is be a very fine filtration down to 100 microns, 60 microns, 25 microns, 5 microns and finaly 0.02 microns. To wash it, they use vinigar and it is mechanical. One cube costs £5.000 and so associations can afford it. There are already 40 in the world installed since august and 500 on order. Two people are trained to look after the cube. It can create 8 000 L of clear water per hour.
