Our River Test!!!!

We went to a river. Our teacher came with us. We used a secchi tube to measure the turbidity of the water. The water was very clear because we could see the pattern through the water. While we were testing , we found high nitrate levels in the water. This means that there is probably agricultural freritiliser in it. There are lots of farms nearby so the fertiliser might be coming from there. We found low phosphate levels so this is why there was very little plant growth or algae in the river. I liked learning about the science of rivers and how we can measure different levels of nitrates and phosphates. We will come back to the same river in a few months and carry out the same tests again.
