We need to stop digging
Posted by Mansfield Primary School, South Africa on 22 November 2019

We are in a deep hole with this climate change crisis and we need to stop digging. Those were the ominous words in a latest Guardian report about how the worlds nations are on track to produce twice as much fossils fuels as it did a decade ago. A very alarming thought considering our empty promise at the Paris agreement to abstain for fossil fuel energy in order to maintain global temperature below 1.5%

Whilst it might be all doom and gloom on the global front, Mansfield Primary know the right course of action. After making solar cookers they now realize that reducing our energy demands are key to fighting climate change. Mr Siyabonga say, “ Climate Change will make our future very uncertain, with more extreme events like flooding and droughts, it will be difficult to grow our crops and provide enough food for our community. We need to use alternative energy like solar if we are to avoid this catastrophe.
