Christmas Crafty Trio
Three Transition year students from Castleisland Community College are selling recycled books and are decorating them as a Christmas centrepiece for their enterprise project.
We recycled old encyclopaedias and other books from our school library and our own homes. The rest of the books were purchased in a charity shop. We also recycled old decorations from our attic and also timber was recycled from family members and we received timber from the school. This is our way of reducing our carbon footprint ,conserving water and also supporting local charity shops.
These Christmas centrepieces have been on display in the school for the first year open night where many were sold on the night. We have also displayed and sold our decorations at the fair day on November the 1st in Castleisland. Teachers also recently bought our Christmas centrepieces. We have an upcoming event this Friday where we are displaying them at a fashion event in the heritage centre in Scartaglen. Also the 2nd and 3rd December we will be selling them at the Ríocht sports centre in Castleisland. Our family members and neighbours are also interested in buying them.
We always promote the fact that the majority of our Christmas centrepieces have been made from recycled items.
