The lesson today was a very fruitful jojo tank challenge. It integrated math as learners learnt the practical skills of measuring units, capacity and how to calculate volume. By using a tape measure to measure the length and width of each building at our school, we worked out that for an average annual rainfall of 1600 mm we could collect over 200 jojo tanks worth in water per year. That would be the end of our water worries, especially over winter when it is not raining. We have now resolved to write a motivational letter for a donation of funds to fix our jojo tank gutters so that all our jojo tanks are working at max capacity. It was a great practical lesson and the learners really enjoyed it. We would also like to extend a big thanks to Turkey for donating money towards helping us establish a herb garden.
