The Water Explorers learn the ticks of the trade from an experienced community plumber

Proud Schools, another development partner at our school has be working hand in hand with the Water Explorer Program to promote a clean, attractive, litter free  school who knows how to manage their resources wisely and efficiently. Last term, Proud Schools donated a Water Butt to the value of R5000. In order to claim our prize we needed to ensure that our present plumbing, taps and jojo tanks had no leaks. Last term, Eco-School/Water Explorer Co-ordinator, Nombali Khoza rounded up her mighty team to fix the existing leak in a jojo tank near the library. After doing a water audit to determine the water recovered, Ms Khoza and her team discovered that the jojo tank was leaking water at a rate of 1 cup per 15 minutes. This is the equivalent of 1 litre per hour, 24 litres per day amounting to a phenomenal saving of 720 Litre per month! Well Done Water savers.
