Julia showing the children how water gets pollution as river and people interact

Though the meduim of a story exemplified by demonstrations of different types of pollution, Julia and her task team looked at the problems associated with an increased use of fertilizers on farms. Fertilizers have become increasingly popular in the Green Revolution in 1960 to increase the yield of crops produced. Unfortunately the down side it that these fertilizers get washed into the rivers causing excess algae blooms robbing the water of oxygen, a life supporting component of a healthy living river ecosystem.
