Post related to Freshwater species savers, Fresher Water

Regrettably Phumelelani School unlike many of the schools in the catchment area does not have a river close by to monitor. The learners however where cleverly able to adapt the mini SASS tool (using indicator species to determine the quality of the water) to monitor a fresh water dam;Rosedale Dam;3km from their school. In this picture, Grade 7 learners net and identify Minnow Mayflies and some bugs and beetles indicating that the water eco-system is in a fair condition with some negative impacts. The dynamic Mrs Mbele wishes to continue this investigation as the wetlands and water level change through the seasons.Well done Phumelelani for being so willing to take up the challenge.
