Get rid of the aliens!
Posted by Howick High School, South Africa on 23 March 2018

In October Mr Keough from Gardenatomy Landscapes, Mr Ainslie our groundsman took us for a walk around our school grounds teaching us about alien invasive plants. There we marked all the alien plants on our walk with spray paint. Later during the month our Enviro Squad undertook to remove all these marked aliens from our school property. We learnt about the importance of removing alien plants as they use a lot of water and as we are in a drought our indigenous plants can suffer because of them. After we had removed them we painted the cut stumps with a herbicide to ensure that they do not grow back. This is an ongoing project to keep our school alien free.
