Through a fun filled card game matching different items of food with their actual water footprint in litres used and polluted in the process, we learnt how a hamburger for example uses a whooping 2500 litres in its production. We learnt that legumes being peas, lentils and beans are a wonderful alternative source of protein. When one clever boy, Asiyenze wisely questioned the protein content of legumes we found out that 100 grams of soy bean used in our school meals have 36 gram of protein when compared to 100 grams of beef with only 26 grams. We were very excited to discover that beans can be used in all sorts of dishes including red bean chocolate cake. I think that learners will make healthier choices for a better future.
