Congratulations to the Tyne Team Water Explorers from Corbridge Middle School in Northumberland on winning UK School of the Month for June.
The team have been doing Water Explorer in conjunction with CREST awards, so have approached everything as a science experiment – creating water pumps, water filtration systems, and comparing the quality of tap and bottled water. They've put a lot of effort into planning their experiments, carrying them out, and then writing them up afterwards, and sharing their results!
The team are busy at the moment planning their Water Festival for next week, which will be a whole school assembly. They have decided that the key message they want to get across during their assembly is that we need to reduce the number of plastic bottles we use, and then throw away. They have some great ideas for how to demonstrate to their fellow students how big an issue this is, which we're sure will capture everyone's attention.
Good luck Tyne Team with your assembly, and congratulations on being a very worthy School of the Month! We're looking forward to hearing all about your Water Festival, and finding out what you choose as your School of the Month prize!
